WHAT IS MARKETING?
Marketing
is a process to keep a steady flow of customers flowing through your
door. To do this you have to identify who your customers are, what
their needs are, and how to meet those needs at an agreed price.
Marketing
is distinct from selling which is focused only on a single sale or
result. The secret to successful marketing is to work to a plan and to
do it consistently.
WHY MOST PEOPLE'S MARKETING IS NOT WORKING:
- You don't know whom you are marketing to
- You don't know why your customers buy
- You are not client centred
- You have no marketing plan
- You are not persistent
- You expect the prospect to do too much work
- You are boring people
- You think like an order-taker, not a marketer
- You let past buyers and customers get away
- You don't seek to upgrade your buyers
10 TIPS FOR MARKETING SUCCESS:
- Know what you want to achieve before spending a penny.
- Know your audience demographics and psychographics.
- Don't try to be an expert at everything.
- Treat your employees as customers.
- Not every customer is worth keeping
- Getting a new customer is five times more expensive than retaining a current customer.
- Don't be rushed into making decisions.
- Don't abandon your marketing and advertising too soon.
- Select a "media mix" for success.
- Goofs can be your friends
